To Saff: Re: looking for more solutions for hyperemesis gravidarumFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 25 Oct 2001 17:58:53 -0500 (CDT)
I am in the same boat. I have been sick as a dog for 5 weeks. Promethazine (phenergan) didn't work. The benedictin (which I have been told is ok) didn't work. The life saver for me has been Zofran. It is very expensive ($15 a pill in Ohio and I take 2-3 a day as needed). It is often prescribed for patients who are sick from chemotherapy. It is a class B drug and has no reported ill effects on human babies. It worked almost immediately. I've only been on it for 2 days, but this is the first I've been able to drink or eat or sit up! (I too have been hospitalized for dehydration). Good luck and don't give up trying to relieve extreme nausea!
