Doctors - Does this sound right or should I switch doctors?From: Ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 25 Oct 2001 17:41:57 -0500 (CDT)
I am 11 weeks pregnant. I have been suffering from extreme nausea for 5 weeks! (vomiting 3+ times a day, urinating in small amounts 1 time per day (dark yellow/orange), constipated) My mouth is dry. My lips are cracking. I have tried B6 and unisom I have tried promethazine (phenergan?) My doctor is a family practitioner, not an OB/GYN. I called my doctor on a Monday morning and explained my situation. I called repeatedly throughout the day to no avail. At 7:30 PM, the nurse FINALLY called back to tell me the doctor had left and she couldn't do anything for me. She said she'd call in the morning ASAP. Tuesday I called at 1 pm since I still hadn't heard back. Sorry. Nurse too busy to talk. Will call me back. At 3:00 I called again. Too busy again. At 5:30 PM I called and refused to hang up. Finally, they prescribed Zofran. I like my doctor, but am really upset that it took 2 days of my persistent calling to get help. Am I over-reacting or should I be looking for a new MD? If so, what should I say to my old doctor? (Yesterday another doctor finally sent me to the ER for dehydration) Thanks. Ann E.
