Oftentimes after the pregnancy implants into the endometrium, the lining of the uterus, there can be some blood that gets trapped between the pregnancy and the uterus. This could be a subchorionic hematoma, and often this blood clot will work its way out and cause a very light bleeding episode. Often women mistake this as a late menstrual period, and thus we have difficulty dating the pregnancy. Everything sounds good and normal is larger pregnancy is going. If I was your obstetrician I would probably do a quick ultrasound at about eight weeks to reassure you.
