Safety of Handheld Dopplers?From: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 19 Oct 2001 13:35:05 -0500 (CDT)
Hello, Many of the women on my Expecting Club board have rented hand-held dopplers to listen to fetal hearttones between 10 weeks and quickening. I did the same after my m/w was unable to locate a heartbeat at 11 weeks (fortunately, I found it myself at 12 weeks using the device) I have read conflicting information about whether it is in fact safe to use these devices. My question is simply whether it is safe to use the doppler for a limited period (say, 5 minutes) every day or two until movement is felt? Thanks!
