Re: 22 days until EDD and told I DON'T Look Pregnant!!From: Heidi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 8 Oct 2001 21:04:48 -0400
Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in on this subject. I had gestational diabetes with my second and third pregnancies. With my second pregnancy I only gained 11-13 lbs. With my 3rd pregnancy I did not gain any weight, but in fact lost weight. My son weighed 7lb 3 oz in spite of this fact. Most people do not realize that if you eat healthy well balanced meals, a growing embryo/fetus only needs about 300 extra calories from you to thrive and grow. I would also like to state for the record that it was not my intention to lose weight with my pregnancy, it just happened because of the way I was eating (healthy and serving size portions), which I have continued to follow post partum, with the exception of coffee and my creamer ( I couldn't stand the smell of coffee while pregnant)I have that daily and then some.....and I'm still losing weight. We must all understand that each woman is different, so therefore that makes each pregnancy different, and our bodies react differently. Have a great week everyone!!! Thanks again to all the docs for being here and providing this forum for us. You all are greatly appreciated more than words could ever say... Heidi
