I was due 9 days ago and I'm still not dialated as of my last Dr's visit 3 days ago. My Dr. has been telling me since 5 weeks ago that my cervix is thinning. Since I have gestational diabetes, he doesn't want to wait any longer and said that if I'm not dilated by 2 days from today, he will administer a "shot" to get my cervix dialted. He then will induce labor the next day. What is this "shot" and where on my body will this shot be given? Is the "shot" do start dilation common?
