Re: To all ladies who have had a normal or 'walking' epidural

Just don't expect an epidural to get rid of all of your pain. I had one with my first child and still had horrible back labor. I felt everything during the pushing stage, including when I tore. I don't know, maybe the epidural wasn't inserted properly or something? I've heard that epidurals lengthen pushing. My doctor thinks the epidural was why it took a while to push my baby out (1.75 hrs plus a vacuum extractor).

I was planning on not having an epidural with my second because it didn't seem to do any good anyway. But he was born by c-section. Thankfully that epidural worked much better the second time.

Happy birthing!
