This is very strange. If they heard a separate heartbeat form yours, there should be a visible fetus on US, if not in the uterus, in the surrounding area. A pregnancy test should be done to determine if you are pregnant - though there is a heartbeat?! Normally a fetal heart cannot be heard until 11-12 weeks, so they should have seen something. Make sure ou followup with an ob/gyn SOON.
