Re: Previous C-section Scars (Someone please answer 3rd time posting!)From: Harvey S. Marchbein, M.D. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 30 Sep 2001 12:20:15 -0500 (CDT)
I am so sorry for you tragic loss. It appears that you had a silent abruption (not common at all) and a uterine incision dehiscence (separation). If the placenta was at the site of the incision, the dehiscence may have caused the abruption. That being said, once you have a dehiscence, you are at increased risk of future complications. Although biophysical profiles can be reassuring, I'm not sure from your history that it would have made a difference as you alluded to. Unfortunately, the risk of recurrent dehiscence is there and the abruption, if directly related to the dehiscence, may be a one time thing. Exact statistics for your exact situation and possible scenarios in the future are not possible. Hope this helps and write back anytime for more information. Dr. M
