short upper arm length as hereditaryFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 30 Sep 2001 11:49:10 -0500 (CDT)
I'm wondering if my dad and I, who are both of short stature, have a shorter upper arm length than average in relation to lower arm (not a lot, but noticable, something I"ve been self-conscious about my whole life!), and if this showed up in a fetus during ultrasound, would it be reasonable to take this hereditary factor into consideration? Or is the fact that both I and my dad have this suggestive of some underlying problem that isn't manifest in other ways? My dad and all my siblings, as well as Dad's siblings, also have pronounced eye folds, which when I was a child was inappropriately called "Mongolian." Is there anything to this? My family members are all healthy, accomplished individuals. Can some of these variations just be normal hereditary features?
