24 weeks--excessive thirst/addicted to water!

I am 24 weeks and cannot seem to get enough water. I have always been a really good water drinker...8-10 glasses/day PRIOR to pregnancy. Now, I must consume twice that. I, subsequently, urinate all the time. For instance, I was on the treadmill for 30 minutes today and went just prior to getting on, stopped at the 10-minute mark to go, and struggled to hold it for the remaining 20 minutes. Everytime I go, I void a good amount...not like a UTI or anything.

Also, I was a HUGE salt-a-holic for my whole life prior to the pregnancy. Shortly after I conceived, I didn't crave it for the first time in my life and do not add salt to my food. I was thinking that for the past 28 years, my body has probably retained so much water due to my salt addiction...could this have anything to do with the water consumption?

My pregnancy is otherwise healthy. I had gained 6 pounds total at my last appointment, 23 weeks.

Your comments are appreciated.

Thanks! Lisa
