spotting and large clotsFrom: A (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 17 Sep 2001 12:35:17 -0500 (CDT)
I am now 9.5 weeks pregnant. I passed a large clot(quarter size) about three weeks ago. I had TV ultrasound which showed good growth and heartrate. After the follow up ultrasound a week later there was a huge clot overlying on my cervix, which the technician did not mention because I later found out she thought my body would absorb it. A few days after this ultrasound, I had sex and when we finished, the bed was covered in blood and we thought for sure I was miscarrying. The office said to go to ER, and the ultrasound showed good placental attachment and good heartrate. I then passed a clot about the size of my palm, without any pain. That ws one week ago. I am still spotting, which theyt said I would do to the amount of blood. I go back next week. My concern is this going to continue and what might be the cause of these large clots, is there a risk to the embryo and are there any precautions other than "taking it easy" I should follow. Is this likely to lead to miscarriage and when is it safe to stop worrying so much. I was wondering if anyone had any information or experience with similar problems.
