Luckily they tend to decrease over time. As far as the backache, that does not tend to be associated with birth control pills, but may actually be associated with intercourse. Either a sexually transmitted disease which could cause of pelvic inflammatory disorder, interruption of adhesions from endometriosis, or just mechanical manipulation of the uterus, tubes, and ovaries. Headache is worrisome though. Some women increase the risk of migraine headaches with oral contraceptive pills. Tension headaches do not tend to be associated with oral contraceptive pills, but migraines do. If she's having visual disturbances, problems with being in lighted rooms, or headaches that increase nausea and vomiting, she needs to see her gynecologist. Usually birth control pills are effective if the pill pack is started on the very first day of the menstrual cycle. If on the other hand they were started on Sunday, and this was not the first day of the menstrual cycle bin she's not protected until she starts for second pack of pills, and condoms or other barrier methods should be used until the second pack has been started.
