Corpus Luteum CystFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 15 Sep 2001 12:08:22 -0500 (CDT)
I am 13 weeks pregnant and 37 years old. Everything looks great, the baby seems to be doing fine, but yesterday, I started feeling a sharp pain in my lower right abdomen. I suspect it is the corpus luteum cyst which was discovered via ultrasound when I was about 6 weeks along. I hadn't felt it since then and assumed it had gone away. It wasn't checked at my 12 week ultrasound and since I was so interested in seeing the baby at that time and hadn't felt any pain on my ovary, I didn't ask. This pain hurts the fuller my bladder/bowel are and is most uncomfortable when I walk. I'm going to call my doc on Monday if it hasn't gone away by then, but in the meantime, could the cyst cause any hormonal imbalances, since presumably the placenta has taken that job over? Are C.L. cysts common with women with a history of Polycystic ovary disease? THank you for taking the time to help me. Appreciatively, Amy b.
