Re: 2nd Ectopic, please helpFrom: lorrie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 11 Sep 2001 07:11:51 -0500 (CDT)
I lost a tube to an ectopic, and am now 5 1/2 months pregnant, so don't give up hope. I have read that aside from tubal blockage, smoking can cause ectopics. With each ectopic, you chances of having a normal pregnancy go down a bit, but if your tubes are clear its still quite possible. I've heard of a "dye test" that can check the insides of the tubes for obstructions and will show more than a LAP. Talk to your doc about getting thoroughly checked out so that at least you know exactly what you are dealing with, than you can figure out what to do about it. Woman with recurrent ectopics are also excellent candidates for IVF should it come to that. Hopefully it won't but I found it comforting to know I had that option when I was struggling with the implications of my ectopic. I wish you all the best. Lorrie
