Jennifer,

The dull ache just inside your hipbones is probably round ligament pain. It is very common, and I have had it with both of my pregnancies. It will go away soon. Braxton Hicks contractions just feel like your uterus is hardening without any real pain (it may be slightly uncomfortable). It you put your hand on your uterus during a BH, it will be very hard. After less than a minute it will return to normal. Once you feel one, you will know what it is. Just remember with pregnancy comes little aches and pains.

Try to enjoy your pregnancy. It will be very stressful if you worry about everything. You will soon feel the baby moving in there, which will make you totally elated! Don't worry about when you feel that, either. I worried, and I finally felt my son at about 21 weeks.

By the way, I would never, ever check my own cervix. I see that a lot of women on this forum do this, and to me it seems totally neurotic. I would leave your insides alone, with the exception, of course, of how you got in this situation in the first place ;).
