Keflex for UTI at 6 1/2 weeks of pregnancy

I have read in your forum that Keflex is a category "B" antibiotic.

I was prescribed this antibiotic when I was found to have a UTI at 6 1/2 weeks of pregnancy. I was terrified, but I followed the doctor's instructions.

My question to this forum is:

1. Is this prescription "popular"? Has it been proven to be safe?

2. Would Macrobid have been safer?

3. Should I had done more research before agreeing to taking the prescribed Keflex?

4. Do you think it was safe to use during the first trimester?

Thank you for your valued opinion!
