Are these awful pregnancy symptoms (doubt it!) or related to gall bladder surgery? I'm suffering! Help! From: Ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 3 Sep 2001 17:31:13 -0500 (CDT)
I am 7 weeks pregnant and having some awful symptoms. I am in contact with my family doctor, but would like another opinion(s). The problem with me is that it may be unrelated to the pregnancy. I had my gall bladder taken out a little over 1 1/2 years ago. I think the symptoms may be related to that, and perhaps the pregnancy is multiplying them or perhaps it is just coincidence. Either way, I am so frustrated I could cry! First, I have HORRID cramping almost every time I need to have a bowel movement. It feels like I need to throw up. Then there is the gurgling. It sounds like I am hungry, and my stomach (or intestine area) gurgles so loud that others in the room can hear it. Recently, when I get up in the morning, I can actually FEEL the gurgling moving down toward my bowels! I also have constant diahrea, and often there is blood. Other times, all I find left in the toilet is bile. My doctor previously put me on some medicine (a powder I have to take with liquid--Chloestrine I believe it is called?) that was supposed to bind the bile that my absent gall bladder could no longer do. He says that the blood is from irritation from the bile. Anyway, it has gotten worse. I have to go back to the dr. tomorrow to discuss my worsening symptoms (this is not my obg yn, which complicates things--I have to call baby doctor every time to okay what other dr wants me to do!!). He may want me to see a gaseowhatever doctor, which terrifies me! God knows what they will do to me!! What scares me most is that this could somehow be hurting the baby.
