Possible Twins or Horseshoe Shaped Sac?From: Chris (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 31 Aug 2001 21:05:20 -0500 (CDT)
Forgive me if this is long but it is rather strange and I must describe the details. I will be 9wks tomorrow, was 8wks5dys at my last Dr. appt. where Dr. did an ultrasound. His machine doesn't have doppler capability or the ability to measure the sac size like the u/s tech's. He saw the h/b and said it looked normal. He kept moving the probe (vag. u/s) around because when he moved it he would see two sacs that would then turn into one. If he moved far enough left or far enough right he would see the embryo with h/b in each sac but at the middle it would be come one. On all previous u/s with the u/s tech she saw only one sac and one h/b. I had an u/s one week previous to this one. Her machine is much better and she can shrink the image to see the whole thing. He didn't know what to think. He said he thinks it's only one and that I may have a horseshoe shaped sac. His machine did not allow him to shrink the image in order to see the whole thing at once. The sac was not horseshoe shaped on any of the previous u/s's. I asked him if a horseshoe shaped sac is considered irregular and he said "no, everything looks fine". I am concerned that if I have a horseshoe shaped sac that it is irregular and that I might be in the beginning of a miscarriage. Does anyone have any advice regarding this? I'm afraid that I may be beginning a miscarrige. I've had 2 previous miscarriages one after seeing the h/b.
