Maybe effacing at 32 weeks?From: Jan (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 31 Aug 2001 16:16:45 -0500 (CDT)
I have been checked every 2 weeks as I have had some unexplained spotting episodes and I have an uterine irritability (also unexplained but had it w/ 1st pregnancy as well and didn't deliver until 38 weeks). Anyway at 32 weeks my doctor said my cervix is still firm and closed but may be started to thin 25-50%, although since I am still high and posterior she couldn't say that definitely and didn't want to do too much poking around. She said she wasn't too concerned about it because of the consistency of my cervix (not soft I guess), but still to take it easy the next couple of weeks just to be sure. Some days I have hardly any contractions and others I have episodes of painless contractions, maybe 3 or so an hour then they stop. How concerned should I be with my cervical change at this point? Could that just be normal for me? Does the bact that my cervix is still firm mean much? (I went 6 weeks dialated 1-2 and 50%, head engaged, with my first but I know that doesn't mean I will this time) Thanks
-- Jan
