Re: Induction and VBACFrom: SarahB (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 31 Aug 2001 15:05:00 -0500 (CDT)
Mona, I had a good experience with induction with my first. I also am probably doing my 2nd VBAC and since my last labor/delivery was short (and I had a placenta abruption previously) I WANT to make sure I am at the hospital and everything is monitored. My doctor and I have discussed my concerns over the last few months and he had told me that he wanted to wait until I was 36 weeks to finalize things (I am under the impression the VBAC is OK rather than a repeat C-section but not sure about the induction part). (By the way, I had a shot of stadol with my first and a shot of demerol for the final part of my last delivery - I much preferred the demerol since it didn't knock me out like the stadol did). Keep in mind that your doctor (maybe I'm assuming) wants to make sure that you end up with a healthy baby and mom (that is the most important thing right?)... perhaps he thinks the risk of letting you go and possibly end up delivering with someone else under less than ideal conditions might not produce that result... and it may come back to haunt him later. Just trying to look at the other side since I am in a somewhat similar situation. Good luck with whatever you decide to do...
