Dr. B.,

I was not specifically instructed by my OB to do these, but had read in books/posts that strengthening the muscles can be beneficial during labor, ostensibly to help push and to help prevent tearing. If there are no medical benefits, are there any drawbacks? I obviously don't want to do anything to cause problems. Would this fall under the category of "might not help but probably couldn't hurt"? I've got it on my list to ask the Dr. when I see her next week, but I figured I'd get the forum's input.

Thanks for your help.
