The Dr. did not say if there was mucous left but he agreed that I had lost my plug so I assume that it was gone. If it is gone, what does that mean? What should I watch for? I also read somewhere it can grow back?

The mucus plug is very dificult to really tell what it is. It can be just a thick vaginal discharge and not really "The Plug" whatever that is. Is htere still mucus in the cervix when the Doctor looked or was it gone?
