HCG Concern, or just PG Hysteria???

I want to say thank you up front for taking the time to respond. This is a wonderful resource and I am so grateful. Here’s my situation: I am currently 5 weeks and 0-2 days pregnant. My LMP was 7/26, and I have 25-28 day cycles. I’ve had a prior uneventful pregnancy.

On 8/21, I had a positive b-hCG test of 64. On 8-23, my b-hCG was 1347. Neither the midwives or the ob Doctors in the practice seem concerned, given that there is such a wide range of “normal” hCG counts. I panicked about the possibility of having a molar pregnancy based on my own research (beware the evils of self-diagnosis!). My midwives and doc reiterated that they were not concerned, but brought me in for a u/s 2 days ago. My uterus is the right size and the u/s showed a normal gestational sac consistent with a 5 week pregnancy.

They are going to do another u/s at 6 wk 1-2 days to make sure there is a fetal pole and to check for multiples. My symptoms are not extraordinary – no spotting at all, slight nausea, tender breasts, smell aversions, mild pulling in the uterus not at all like menstrual cramping. They feel this is by all appearances a normal pg, with normal risks (ie blighted ovum, early miscarriage etc) but that it is extremely unlikely that I have a mole or an ectopic (given that my hcg levels would now be at about 10000). Does this sound right? I’d just like another opinion before I shake it off to pg hysteria. Thanks so much.
