Re: Abnormal cervical mucus?From: Abbey (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 28 Aug 2001 21:09:55 -0500 (CDT)
Brette, I had a cervical mucus abnormality diagnosed after a long infertility work-up. My RE said I would probably need IUI in order to conceive, but also suggested taking Robitussin (the cough syrup) to thin out my cervical mucus. Apparently, the expectorant in it (generic name guaifenesin) may help improve the quality of cervical mucus. He said to start taking it about 3 days before ovulation and up until a day or two after you ovulate. I guess it worked- I'm pregnant! Who knows if that's really why I finally conceived, but, hey it can't hurt, right? Good luck!
