yeast infection-antibiotics-cerclage questionFrom: Nicole (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 26 Aug 2001 18:53:50 -0500 (CDT)
I have been on erythromycin since my fifth week of pregnancy--to help control mycoplasma/ureaplasma infection. i am 8 wks now. going to have a cerlage placed at about 11-12 wks pregnancy. i have a yeast infection that started about 2 wks ago and despite 2 over the counter tx's, it persists. it is not unbearably bad but bad enough to be distracting. problem--if i can't get rid of this--will it effect the cerclage surgery?? will it cause me to be prone to other types of infection once i get the stitch?? will it effect the healing of the cervical tissue-once i get my stitch?? i suspect ill be on erythromycin throughout the pregnancy--so this will be a problem. i am taking acidophilis pills, not eating much sugar and fruit juices etc. what else can i do? saw doc and last visit he took some cultures--he said yes, looks like yeast. thanks for your time and information. nicole
