2 unrelated questions.. stretch marks and cord accident.. please help

thanks for your answers. i have 2 questions.

#1 i know that stretch marks are a part of pregnancy. i am fair skinned and got a great deal of stretch marks on my breasts, but heres the weird part.. i am 18 weeks pregnant and have only gained 3 pounds.. i have stretch marks all over my lower back, bottom, and upper thighs. they have only recently appeared and they are hideous!! since they are obviously not related to an excess weight gain and i was not overweight before i got pg.. what are they from??

#2 a member of my family recently delivered a stillborn baby. the baby had a knot in his umbillical cord. is there any way to detect cord problems before birth???
