Glucose Tolerance Test @ 28 weeks

I have been booked in with the hospital to have a glucose tolerance test at 28 weeks due to the fact that I have PCOS - I'm currently 18 weeks. I understand this is to check for diabetes - my question is can I do anything to avoid getting diabetes? - can I control this through my diet? Before becoming pregnant I used to follow Dr Atkins Low-Carb diet but have introduced Carbs back into my diet as I understand Ketosis (fat burning) is dangerous to the unborn child.

I fell pregnant naturally without clomid but with the help of a herbalist and so far I've had no problems (no sickness, spotting or bleeding). My first scan was good and I'm due another at 21 weeks.

If anyone can help with my questions I'd be most grateful.

Regards
