It was confirmed through ultrasound yesterday that I have a blighted ovum. I have scheduled a D&C for this comming Monday. I know I could "wait it out" and let my body take care of itself, but he doctor strongly remommended a D&C. Do the risks of a D&C outweigh the benefits?

My midwife was going to check HCG levels to rule out an ectopic pregnancy, but the Dr. said it wasn't necessary. I am 8 1/2 weeks pregnant. Could there be a posibility that I could have an ectopic pregnancy, and just not know it yet? Should I be concerned about a possible ectopic pregnancy? Thank you. Amber
