1 Hour Glucose Tolerance Test Result 139 - Need to take 3 hour?From: Julie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 15 Aug 2001 00:35:12 -0500 (CDT)
I am almost 30 weeks pregnant w/ my second child. My first child was born at 38 weeks via C-section, 9.9 pounds w/ hypoglycemia. I gained 50 pounds w/ the prior pregnancy. Although my doc suspected GDM, the lab had lost the 1 hour GTT results, so it was not confirmed, and I didn't have a chance to re-test. This pregnancy, I took the 1 hour GTT at 28 weeks w/ the result at 139. I understand that the "cut-off" for ordering the 3 hour test is 140. Given my history and the 139 result, is it recommended to take the 3 hour test, just to definitely rule out GDM? Thanks for your help.
