Val,

Around 2 weeks before the start date of you next period is when ovulation occurs. So, for example, if you expect your period on March 14th you should have plenty of sex on and the couple of days before March 1st.

Now there is TONS of information out there about conceiving (ie things to look for to know your ovulating, and ways to chart your ovulation cycle etc.) Its too lengthy to go into here. Than of course there are ovulation predictor kits at the drug store. All this would probably expidite matters. You can get most of the information off the internet. Do a search under Preconception.
