I tested positive at 10dpo with an EPT. But I also tested at 11dpo, 12dpo and 17dpo just to make sure it was for real! So you're right, testing early is a waste of money, even if you do get a positive! And you don't want to be disappointed if it turns out to be a false negative. Do you really want to put yourself through an insane emotional roller coaster like that?
