Hi...I know that the risks are supposedly low, but a risk is a risk. My really good friend was pregnant with her first child and was getting an amnio real late in her pregnancy, like you. I can't remember why they were doing it, though. She lost all of her amniotic fluid, the baby went into distress, and she gave birth to a full term DEAD, perfectly formed little boy. She was devastated, to say the least. I know it's important to know the lung maturity, but I just thought I'd relate this story - because although rare, these things can happen.
