Ditto on tampax. They do just get longer and don't really work well (I learned this the hard way when I was a teenager). Playtex and OB both definitely expand outward, but I've been using OBs for over twenty years now bc they have never let me down. Another advantage of OBs is that they are more absorbent than other brands (I must sound like a commercial, but I promise I don't work for the company!). They even had to rename their three sizes a few years ago bc they were so much more absorbent than other tampons and had to be standardized to the rest of the market. Their "mini" became a "regular". The "regular" became "super", and the supers were renamed "SuperPlus".

Best of luck with TTC. I'm in the same boat and I know how depressing it is sometimes.
