Causes of early pregnancy symptoms

Good afternoon. I've read that some women have reported experiencing very early pregnancy symptoms, i.e., frequent urination, breast tenderness, nausea, etc. as early as 8-10 DPO. Which hormone(s) would be responsible? I've read that HCG levels are rather low at 8-10 dpo. Would early symptoms be caused by an individual woman's increased sensitivity to the HCG or are the symptoms the result of an increase in other hormones, i.e. progesterone? Hoping to settle a lively debate among friends. Thank you.
