echogenic focus in USFrom: diane (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 1 Aug 2001 09:22:53 -0500 (CDT)
OK The doctor doing the US found a bright spot in the heart. Since I will be 40 when the baby is born, He said my DS risk doubled to 1:35. No other markers were found. My AFP tests gave me a 1:685 risk. I have read the archives and some doctors say that it is the most useless of markers but others seem to think it may be a bit more important. Also I found a reference to an article by BRYNNER 1996 (I think, or is it BYNNER?) saying that 1:3 babies with this focus had DS. But I do not know the particulars of this study. So What's the deal? I am a scientist (PhD PCHEM) so knowing the details of the experiments is important to I would gladly look up references if you have any. Thanks
