solid food following a c-section

I'm scheduled for a c-section next month and I had a question about the IV and eating after the surgery. When is the IV removed? (i.e. how soon after the c-section is it removed?) Will I be able to drink while the IV is still in place after surgery? When can I start eating solid foods. (I understand it varies by hospital - I just wanted to know what is "standard" practice). I just saw a study that showed that eating solid food within 8 hours after surgery is best. Are most doc/hospitals following this study - or is it too new?
