The doctor shoots a dye solution into your uterus and then on a screen you watch the dye flow thru the tubes and out into your body cavity. It was pretty neat to watch, actually! This is usually one of the first tests when you start infertility treatments. All the drugs in the world won't work if your tubes are blocked!
