Subchorionic bleeding -- what causes this, doctor?From: Mary (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Jul 2001 15:50:16 -0500 (CDT)
I'm 6w and measuring so via u/s. U/S tech found oval shaped sac with *possible* fetal pole during scan. He said there is a very large area of subchorionic bleeding adjacent to the gest. sac. This is all the info I was given, as I didn't see the doctor at this time. I have a few questions: 1. My current beta hcg is 8,120. Should we have seen more than a *possible* yolk sac at this point? (6w) 2. Is an oval-shaped gest. sac indicative of a problem? I thought most were round. 3. What causes subchorionic bleeding (sorry, I tried to search the archives but came up with nothing; maybe I'm misspelling it) and could it be harmful to the pg? My last 2 pg.'s ended at 6 weeks due to blighted ova, so I am terribly nervous about this. 4. Is it possible to have a blighted ovum with such high betas that are continuing to rise appropriately? Thank you so much for your time.
