Dr. Wang -- Pulse Rate Q

Dr. Wang,

In a message below you indicated that pulse rate should not go above 120 during exercise in 2nd and 3rd trimester. I guess I am in tachycardia still; I was in ER last week with pulse of 136 and BP of 136/45 and was checked for pulmonary embolism (neg) and then referred to cardiologist but said it didn't appear that I had anything dangerous going on. Today I am wearing a Holter monitor and tomorrow I get an echo but I won't hear any results until I see dr. on Aug. 16. When they put on the Holter this morning, my pulse ranged from 120 to 135 in about 20 minutes time before they "hid" the reading and I continued to feel "sped up" in addition to my palpitations.

My question based on this info is pretty simple... would you advise me to avoid exercise until I talk to dr.? Obviously my pulse rate is going to be way above 120 if I exercise. I normally do a brisk walk every evening for about 30 minutes. I am 12 w 5 d and overweight.

Also, is tachycardia as a symptom of pregnancy common? I've never had this before, though I've had PVCs and PATs in my pattern.

Thank you for your insight and your time, Meredith
