Large Uterine Fibroids and 12 wk PregnancyFrom: Mary (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Jul 2001 11:15:40 -0500 (CDT)
I'm 35, very healthy, and have 3 large uterine fibroids (12x12 centimeters, 9x12 centimeters, 5x7 centimeters). I'm 12 weeks pregnant and all seems to be progressing normally, but my doctor says my pregnancy is high risk due to the fibroids. I think one is blocking the birth canal and they are all growing. Plus my uterus seems to be shifted over to my right side. I'm a small person (5'2", 108lbs. pre-pregnancy). My concern is whether the baby will have room to grow and develop. Is the uterus pretty aggressive about making room for the baby or will it be hopelessly hemmed in? I'm not really worried right now about the all the possible complications at birth, I just want to know if the little guy/girl is going to have room to grow during the pregnancy? Thanks in advance.
