preeclampsia concern, but normal bpFrom: Heather (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Jul 2001 21:12:04 -0500 (CDT)
I am 29 years old, 33 weeks pregnant. At last checkup I had gained 8 lbs in 2 weeks (11 lbs total weight gain prior to this appt.) My blood pressure stays very close to 120/70 and no protein in urine throughout pregnancy. I have been retaining water recently, but without "pitting" as I have seen discussed in the archives. My main concern other than sudden weight gain is right upper quadrant pain. I have had it for a couple months... more severe in the last 2-3 weeks. It is a very sore ache in a specific place that I assumed was rib pain (directly under my right breast). My baby concentrates her activity on the right side and there is really no room between my uterus and ribs at this point. Obviously it hurts when the baby is more active. Laying down on either side is worse. Sitting or especially standing straight up helps. Should I be concerned about preeclampsia, liver problems? In my hormonal state of mind, I have latched onto this and worry constantly. My ob has decided to see me weekly just to make sure, but seems to feel "rib pain" is an accurate diagnosis. I would feel better with another opinion either way. I would rather be safe than sorry! Thank you, Heather EDD 9/19/01
