What can cause late ovulation?From: K (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Jul 2001 14:02:53 -0500 (CDT)
I have been charting for over a year and always experience a temperature shift on day 16 of a 28 to 29 day cycle. However, for the first time, I have tried an OPK test this month and today, day 15, I still have not had a positive result. What could cause ovulation to be late? I have been feeling a twitching, crampy feeling where I believe my left ovary is, but have also felt a little on my right (days 14 and today, day 15). Assuming this is a sign of impending ovulation, how long after the twitchy pain subsides does ovulation occur? Can it be felt on both sides (both ovaries) or must this pain be something else? I'm just concerned because we are ttc and we thought my cycle was predictable but the OPK may be suggesting perhaps that I do not always ovulate or that it is happening later this month. If I can establish that I am not ovulating (i.e I do not get a positive OPK result) does this mean I should see my doctor sooner or should I still wait the full year?
