Marginal Insertion of cord and high HCGFrom: Adria (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Jul 2001 13:30:35 -0500 (CDT)
I have been told that i have a marginal insertion of the cord. Also, during the triple screen they found that my level of HCG was 5 times the median. They attributed this to either a large subchorionic hemmorhage I had earlier or the marginal insertion. Of course, Downs is not ruled out but I have opted not to have an amnio. Alsol, this baby was conceived with IVF. My question is what are the risks/implications of these two things: the marginal insertion and the high hcg besides chromosomal problems. How much at risk am i for premature labor or low birthweight? Do the majority of women with these factor or factors deliver early or have low birthweight? And what is termed low birthweight? Any insight into this would be helpful since I have not been able to find any research on this, especially the marginal insertion of the cord. Thanks, Adria 20 weeks
