Beta Qual is 38???

I miscarried last month after a chemical pregnancy and when my monthly did not show yesterday, I took a HPT. It came out a faint positive, so I went into my doctor today for a blood test. They called back and said that they did a Beta Qual and the result was positive at 38.7. What does that number mean? I am only one day late and I am really scared of a repeat of last month. Is that number expected to rise or is there another test they run for to make sure that the hCG is doubling? I am due to go back for another test in two days for some more numbers. Any advise would be wonderful. Thanks. Kristine
