Triple screen at 20 weeks - how useful/reliable?

I have not had any tests done for fetal abnormalities as I am under 35 (28 to be exact), and am therefore considering asking my ob/gyn to perform a triple screen (MSAFP, hCG, estriol) at my next checkup. However, by then I will be 20 weeks. I understand that this testing method is not overly reliable (you can get false positives, etc.) and should ideally be performed between 16 and 18 weeks, so I was wondering how useful (and reliable) it would be to perform the screen at 20 weeks. Would it be a waste of my money?

Also, I am currently just over 18 weeks and can feel what seems like very light tapping to the far right of my 'bump' (noticeable only on the one side). It doesn't feel like gas or other normal tummy rumblings, so could this be the baby kicking? Just wondering, as I thought kicking would occur nearer the middle and lower down, i.e., where my stomach is starting to bulge out.

Thanks.
