Re: Yet another Triple Test question

My triple screen came back positive for spinal problems (the nurse told me slightly elevated). I chose not to have an amnio because of the 1/200 chance of miscarriage and the fact that the results weren't that elevated. I went to a perinatologist who did ultrasounds for about three months in a row. He said that other than the possibility of a very small problem that he couldn't see on ultrasound, we were fine. >From what I understand, age, weight and other factors can affect the
results, and false positives are indicative of a need for further study, not necessarily that a problem really exists.

Please stay calm and help your wife stay calm too. I've panicked over every little bump this pregnancy... and every time it's been just fine.

Good luck.
