38 or 40 weeks for average onset of labor?

I was just curious, doctors, as to when most of your patients go into spontaneous labor the most often - is it usually around 38 weeks or 40 weeks? I'm not talking about anybody who needs induced or has planned C-sections, but just those who go into labor by themselves. Thanks...Kristy P.S. Ladies, maybe you could give me your input, too, as to your own personal experiences with previous births - when did you go into labor on your own? [those of you who did].
