spermicideFrom: Tracy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 22 Jul 2001 23:13:42 -0500 (CDT)
My husband and I are not financially ready for a child yet;(but will be soon) so we use a combo of withdraw and spermicide gel as our protection. (we do not like any other method)I wanted to know if what we do is effective; and if you could estimate the risk factor please. (sorry for the details) I only use maybe 1/2-1 tsp.of the spermicide because it gets too messy if I use a full dose. Plus he always withdraws on time; so I figured only a few pre-ej. sperm make it in. Sometimes 'during' my hubby has to clean some of the gel off of him because it gets so foamy. Then after we are finished; the spermicide gel seems to me so messy and drip out of me. soon after I either end up cleaning it out of me or washing it out of me in the shower. If I don't do this it tends to leak out slowly for hours! I am wondering if removing most of the liquified spermicide aferwords is ok to do; or does that increase chance of pregnancy? And is just a very small amount of the spermicide enough to handle only pre-cum? Thank you very much.
