any prevention for polyhydramnios next time?From: Anu (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 22 Jul 2001 11:58:04 +0530
hello, am a pathologist from india, lost a baby boy a week ago due to PROM at 30 weeks.was diagnosed as having mild polyhydramnios at 26 weeks which progressed to moderate polyhydramnios at 30 weeks and then premature labour.he succumbed to respiratory distress syndrome and query brain haemorrhage 3 days later.i saw the baby, he was totally normal , except for the weight, he was only 1600 grams.no developmental abnormalities. had a triple maternal screen done earlier too.had no problems in pregnancy at all. all the causes of polyhydramnios were ruled out in my case, no gestational diabetes , no Rh incompatibility, etc etc. so it was most probably idiopathic. he was my first child after 7 years of childless marriage. am doing a lot of research on whether polyhydramnios recurrs the next time and what can be done to prevent its development. anyone with any inputs, please help, i am devastated and trying to come to grips with the loss. thanks for your time. dr. anuradha singh mumbai, INDIA
